Cyprinodon salinus salinus

The light was
and quieter than I remember. Move one by one on the wooden boardwalk. When I get to the pupfish, I recall with a little bit of envy, how they live in Latin and common names. Because their lives are simple and legless. Because they scuttle under during the winter process to rub and mate. Because water and salt ridge inhabit the floor of this particular dusk. Because my memory is elliptical.
